5/2/2023 0 Comments Sako serial numbersThe AII also differed from the L579 with regard to stock shape & barrel contour. The L579 actions were marked with the AII stamping in the late 1970s (1978 or 79?) to denote the modification of the bolt shroud & were made until the early 1990s (1991?) when they were replaced by the model M591. I think that is a fair assessment of a date. I don't have a specific list of serial numbers per year, but based on some other info that I have, I would venture to say that with that serial number, your rifle should have been around manufactured around 2004-ish. You have a Model AII in the Mannlicher configuration. The Sako Model (75) V began production in 1997, I believe. The predecessor action was marked L579 and varies from the A-II only in the A-II's shrouded rear of the bolt which covers the rear end of the striker (firing pin). ![]() ![]() In addition to your full-stock version with its 510mm barrel it came in rifle form with a 580mm barrel length in both standard and deluxe grades and as a Heavy Barrel target/varmint rifle with a 600 mm barrel. You are well equipped for roe, fallow, reds, alg, vildsvin, or just about anything else you might run across in Scandinavia (or America or Africa for that matter!) Forgot to mention: This model, which is the Sako medium-length action, was called the 'Forester' (the short action was 'Vixen' and the long action 'Finnbear').
